The Utah State Board of Bar Commissioners is the volunteer board that oversees the activities of the Utah State Bar. The Bar President serves a one-year term. Commissioners serve staggered three-year terms.
The Bar is a 501(c)(6) nonprofit Utah corporation governed by a 15-member Board of Bar Commissioners: 12 elected lawyers representing the judicial districts, two public members appointed by the Utah Supreme Court, and two elected officers. The Commission also includes 12 non-voting ex officio members. It hires an Executive Director, who employs and supervises the Bar’s 47 employees.
