Access to Justice Office Honors Outstanding Pro Bono Contributions

Salt Lake City, Utah (October 30, 2025) — As we reach the end of Pro Bono Month and the beginning of the holiday season, the Utah State Bar’s Access to Justice Office is proud to recognize the recipients of its annual Pro Bono Publico Awards. These awards honor individuals and organizations that go above and beyond to serve our communities through volunteer legal work.

This year’s honorees exemplify the spirit of service and commitment to ensuring access to justice for all:

  • Mayer BrownLaw Firm of the Year
  • Annie YiYoung Lawyer of the Year
  • Lauren HarveyLaw Student of the Year
  • Breanna HickersonTop Performing Law Student, Pro Bono Challenge
  • Baldemar Orozco – Top Performing Law Student, BYU

The Bar celebrated its annual Access to Justice Summit and encouraged Utah’s community of lawyers, legal aid organizations, and political institutions to collaborate with the theme, “Moving Forward Together,” committing to improve access to justice across the state. These honorees have all been a valuable part of that effort, and the Bar is excited to recognize them this holiday season.

“Each of our honorees embodies the best of our profession,” said Director of the Access to Justice Office, Megan Connelly. “Their dedication ensures that every Utahn, regardless of income, has access to legal help when they need it most.”

The Utah State Bar Access to Justice Office works to increase the availability of legal assistance for Utahns of all income levels, particularly those who cannot afford to hire an attorney. It coordinates pro bono opportunities, partners with legal-service organizations, and develops programs to help residents navigate the legal system.
