The Utah State Bar would like to thank all who attended this year’s Annual Convention. Fall Forum will be held on October 22nd at the University Park Marriott. Watch for more information in the coming weeks. As we come to the end of another CLE reporting cycle, CLE opportunities will be published on the CLE calendar located at www.utahbar.org/cle/events/index.html . Reserve your spots early to avoid the last minute CLE scramble.
Blogs for Lawyers
One of the best known Blogs for lawyers is Dennis Kennedy’s at www.denniskennedy.com/blog/. Blogs are types of online journals, usually focused on a specific topic. Dennis’s Blog provides excellent information and resources on Legal Technology. A great example is this entry on PowerPoint Resources at www.denniskennedy.com/archives/cat_legal_technology.html#000425. If you are interested in creating your own Blog, you can find one resource at www.lexblog.com.
Bar Website Translator
The Utah State Bar website now includes a language translation option. The Babel Fish tool allows you to translate the site into eight different languages. To access this tool, go to the Bar’s home page at www.utahbar.org and scroll down to the Babel Fish icon on the left side and click on the desired flag to translate.
Casemaker Training Offer
With the Casemaker online legal research member benefit coming online later this year, now is a good time to learn more about it. The Bar is offering a training class on Casemaker to any interested group of lawyers. This might be your firm, Bar section, law department or just a group of lawyers you know. To set up a training session (which includes one hour of CLE credit), contact the Bar at casemaker@utahbar.org or at 801.297.7027. For a brief description of Casemaker, check out www.utahbar.org/news/casemaker.html.
Breaking News – As of August 2nd, the Colorado Bar Association has joined the Casemaker Consortium! (This will allow our members to have access to Colorado Law)
