Welcome to the Park City Bar

I continue to be President of the Park City Bar Association for the year 2005-2006.  Our Bar has approximately 110 members who practice both in Park City, Salt Lake City as well as several other nearby communities.

I believe that our mission is to serve both the members of our Bar as well as the Summit County community. We do this in several ways.  As to members of the Bar, we periodically provide continuing legal education programs at the Summit County Justice Center located in Silver Summit. Our CLEs are brown bag luncheons and there is no charge to attend.  One hour of CLE credit is awarded for each seminar. See our
calendar page for scheduled programs.

In the spring we present our CLE & Ski Program at one of the Park City ski resorts.  We have been fortunate to be able to put together a distinguished panel of judges as well as representatives from the Utah State Bar for a presentation for 2 Ethics CLE credit hours. We provide lunch and a ski pass at a very reasonable fee. We welcome you to contact one of our CLE & Ski Directors, Allison Pitt or Emy Cordano, for further information.  See our officers’ page for telephone numbers.

Our main service to the public is our Tuesday Night Bar that is held every first Tuesday of the month at the Miner’s Hospital located on Park Avenue in Park City beginning at 6:00 p.m.  The program provides an opportunity for members of the public to ask attorneys questions concerning legal issues at no charge.

We have attempted to hold periodic socials for our membership to provide opportunity for our members to get to know one another better and generate the collegially that builds respect for one another and ultimately benefits the clients. So far, we have had minimal response, but we will attempt from time to time to hold them in the future.

We provide support for our local courthouse by providing materials for its law library which is open to the public. The members of our association also provide small-claims judges to hear local disputes.

Finally, I believe our mission is to act as a liaison with the local judiciary. We have been fortunate to have a very good rapport with the judges that have recently served the Third District Court in Summit County. We intend to continue to foster those good relations.  We are fortunate to have back in Summit County Judge Bruce C. Lubeck on a full-time basis. We are working with Judge Lubeck to attempt to get another courtroom finished at the Summit County Justice Center so our courts can better serve our community. We are also grateful to Judge Robert K. Hilder who is sitting in Coalville from time-to-time.  Our board is very cognizant of the need to provide services in Summit County so that party litigants do not have to travel to Salt Lake City.

I welcome you to contact me if you would like any additional information or if you would be interested in joining the Park City Bar Association.
