1 In order to calculate your support obligation you will need:
- Current income information for each parent. If you only have tax information, that parent's income should be calculated by dividing the amount by 12 to get a monthly amount. If you are paid every
other week, the amount must be multiplied by 26 and divided by 12 to get the monthly amount.
- Verification of other child support obligations each parent is ordered to pay.
- Verification of other alimony a parent is ordered to pay.
- If a parent has children in a present household for whom the parent wants to receive credit, you will need verification of the income of the spouse in the present household.
- The number of persons (including the children in this case) who are covered on medical insurance and the total cost for insurance

Determine the insurance credit to be given to the person carrying the insurance for the children by dividing the total cost of the insurance by the number of people who are covered by the insurance. Multiply that number by the number of children in this order. That is the amount that should be added to the support if the custodial parent is providing the insurance, or the amount that should be deducted from the support paid by if the non-custodial parent is paying for the insurance.
