Welcome to the Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) Section! Recognizing the growth of ADR in Utah, the Bar Commission of the Utah State Bar created the ADR Section in September of 1999. ADR affects all areas of practice, and the ADR Section hopes to partner with other sections to bring you continuing education that augments your skills as attorneys, mediators, and arbitrators.

Questions about the ADR Section:

  1. What benefits will the ADR Section provide?

We will provide quality CLEs for attorneys, mediators and arbitrators. We will partner with other sections to provide a wide range of trainings in ADR-related areas. We will also maintain current information on the Utah State Bar's webpage, including upcoming programs and links to ADR sites.

  2. How do I join the ADR Section?

Send your name, address, bar number and check to the Utah State Bar ADR Section, Attention: Connie Howard, 645 South 200 East, Salt Lake City, Utah 84111-3834 or contact a member of the executive committee. See application form on this web site.

  3. Can I join if I am not an attorney?

Yes! Because people who are not attorneys are an essential part of the ADR community, we welcome you to join the ADR Section. The yearly fee is $35 for people who are not members of the Utah State Bar. Members of the Utah State Bar, in recognition of the fact that they have paid annual membership fees of about $350, are $25. If you are interested in joining and you are not a member of the Utah State Bar, please send your application, resume and a letter to: Connie Howard, 645 South 200 East, Salt Lake City, Utah 84111-3834. See application form on other side.
