MINUTES PARK CITY BAR ASSOCIATION BOARD MEETING
AUGUST 23, 2001

PRESENT: Frank Normile, Dwayne Vance, Lade Heaton, Barbara Sharp, Christina Miller, Sam Adams. ABSENT:  Doug Johnson, Kathy Kinsman, Mark Kozak.

Motion was made to approve minutes of the July meeting, approved unanimously.   Although Barbara had emailed and faxed the July minutes to everyone, she forgot to run off hard copies for today’s meeting. In the interest of conservation, Dwayne passed around his hard copy to anyone who cared to read it. Barbara will keep a file of each month’s minutes, with the ultimate hope of archiving minutes on our web. Dwayne forgot to ask Shannon to check on library for future site of board meetings, as discussed at the last meeting, but will try again this week.  Dwayne will send out a letter to all members regarding web site, the Sara Henry Quarterly Recognition Program, future meeting to be held in neutral place, i.e., library, and any other minutia he can cram in there.

There will be a film shoot at the September meeting for a picture of the board for the web. Frank suggested a shot of the TNB program to show our serious, community-aware side.  Lade is hoping for October 1 start up for web site. Need welcoming letter from Dwayne, pictures, and CLE schedule from Kathy.

MISC:  Dwayne read the thank you from Judge Orme for the gift basket.

Dwayne’s letter regarding the restaurant tax issue was the subject of gleeful discussion in light of the publicity engendered by yesterday’s Park Record article (front page, albeit below the fold). The Summit County Commission is scheduled to meet today at 4:30 pm to put their benediction on the final beneficiaries of the restaurant tax largesse.  Dwayne plans to be there for a final pitch for our application. He will pitch the CLE/Ski  program as a regional event, and that with the extra money we can market the program to attorneys in Las Vegas, Evanston, and Southern Idaho. Christina pointed out that Judge Kozinski will be a real draw to attorneys in Nevada and Idaho (both in the ninth circuit) who will pay large sums of money to see Judge K. in the informal setting we have cultivated at this event.

TNB:     Sam still needs to figure out how to get in the building. Turnout has been low this summer, although August was relatively well attended.  No Spanish speaking people have attended the last two months. Frank suggested putting an ad on Fortunado’s radio program on KPCW.

CLE: Kathy was not here.  Christina did her CLE on applying for liquor licensing.  Note to Kathy:  if there is a CLE scheduled before our next meeting, let us know so it can be publicized.

Christina is our Olympic liaison for the court system and SLOC.

Mark is not here to give a treasurer report, so Dwayne assumes we are still solvent, unless he appropriated funds to furnish his new office.

Everyone took a donut and the meeting was over at 8:50 am, a new land speed record for Dwayne’s administration.. Our next meeting is September 20, 2001, at Tesch Vance and Miller unless otherwise notified of a different venue.

Respectfully submitted,
Barbara Sharp
