The Paralegal Division of the Utah State Bar was created by the Utah Supreme Court in April of 1996. Since that time, the Division, through its members and leadership, has worked to remain an active and respected part of the Utah State Bar. Our members bring a high level of skill and professionalism to the delivery of legal services and come from all venues of the legal community including law firms, corporations, and government offices. All members of the Paralegal Division work under the ultimate supervision of an attorney.The Paralegal Division recently celebrated its 10th anniversary. Please refer to the brochure attached to this website for historical information about the Division’s first 10 years. We look forward to the continued success, growth and progress of the Division, its members and the paralegal profession during the next 10 years and into the future. As always, there are a variety of activities and committees the Division is involved in this year. We have recently created a new Community Service Chair on the Board of Directors and will welcome volunteers to this committee. As always, our Continuing Legal Education Committee is hard at work planning some outstanding CLE opportunities throughout the next year; our Membership and Utilization Committees are working on an impressive program to increase awareness for membership in the Division and provide information on the utilization of paralegal; and our website committee is working on some significant changes to our website with the assistance of the Utah State Bar’s amazing staff. In addition, the Division as a whole is committed to assisting the Bar in furthering its purposes and mission and to assist with the Bar’s goal of providing affordable access to justice to the citizens of this state and our various communities. There is a myriad of opportunities for you, as a member of the Paralegal Division, to become involved. If you are interested in participating on a committee or on a specific project, please complete and submit a committee volunteer form (attached to this website), submit a comments form, or contact someone on the Board of Directors. We welcome and encourage your involvement. If you are a paralegal and have not yet become a member of the Division, you can review and download membership forms from this site.
