Thank you for your interest in the Paralegal Division. The Paralegal Division of the Utah State Bar was created by the Utah Supreme Court in April of 1996. Since that time, the Division, through its members and leadership, has worked to remain an active and respected part of the Utah State Bar. Our members bring a high level of skill and professionalism to the delivery of legal services and come from all venues of the legal community including law firms, corporations, and government offices.

The Paralegal Division celebrated its 10th anniversary in 2006. The course of our ten-year evolution is highlighted in our 10th Anniversary Brochure. We look forward to the future with continued success, growth and progress of the Division, its members and the paralegal profession.

As always, there are a variety of activities and committees the Division is involved in throughout the year. We recently added a new Community Service Chair on the Board of Directors. The members of our Community Service Committee, our Board and Division Members have been very involved within our local communities, seeking out new opportunities for our members to pull together and make a difference in the lives of others. Our service projects throughout 2007 and 2008 have been very successful, including toy drives and women’s professional clothing drives. We are also very proud to work hand-in-hand with the Young Lawyers Division serving as notaries and witnesses with the rapidly expanding Wills for Heroes program. Projects are on-going with new projects about to begin.

Our Continuing Legal Education Committee is hard at work coordinating outstanding CLE opportunities to help us maintain the highest standards. Our Membership and Utilization Committees oversee impressive programs to increase awareness for membership in the Division and provide information on the utilization of paralegal. Our website committee recently overhauled our website and plans to implement additional changes to make our site a better resource tool.

In addition, the Division as a whole is committed to assisting the Bar in furthering its purposes and mission and to assist with the Bar’s goal of providing affordable access to justice to the citizens of this state and our various communities.

More information on Division membership, including minimum qualifications, CLE requirements and application forms, is available in our Membership section. (Members must be under the ultimate and direct supervision of an attorney.)

A myriad of opportunities await you, as a member of the Paralegal Division, to get involved. If you are interested in participating on a committee or perhaps assisting on a specific project, please submit a committee volunteer form or contact someone on the Board of Directors. We welcome and encourage your involvement.

Please let us know how we can assist you.
