Law Student Fellowship
Each year, the Labor & Employment Law Section and Utah Labor Commission sponsor two Fellowships for students selected from among those attending the University of Utah’s S.J. Quinney College of Law and Brigham Young University’s J. Reuben Clark Law School. The students perform several hundred hours of work over the course of the summer at the Utah Labor Commission. The Section and the Commission provide the students a stipend. A past Fellowship student described his experience as follows:
“It was really wonderful to work with all of the people at the Labor Commission. It felt like the work I was doing really mattered and was important because it was affecting real people (as opposed to the traditional law school hypothetical cases). I had some interaction with various attorneys in the community that was good, and I think through the experience I gained a greater understanding of several facets of employment law. I think the experience will be useful to me in my continuing education as well as my future career.”
