Information about Clerkships at the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit |
| Law students interested
in a Federal Clerkship at the Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit can
obtain additional information at http://www.fedcir.gov/lawclerk.html.
This site discusses the Law Clerk Hiring Plan, which includes strict requirements
for the application process. Another valuable site is https://lawclerks.ao.uscourts.gov
where there is more in-depth information on federal law clerk positions
in general. Click on the “Search” link to search for available
positions at a particular court or with a particular judge. The “Summary
Report” is a good link to see a list of all Clerk positions open at
a particular court, and for what time periods. Each position will provide
all the application requirements and chambers contact information for each
judge. Biographies of the judges may be located at http://www.fedcir.gov/judgbios.html.
Federal Judicial Internships at the Federal Circuit can also be arranged
during law school. After determining whether a particular judge is accepting
interns, students should coordinate through their respective law schools
with the chambers of the judge. Some judges do not use interns; others
use interns, historically, from particular law schools. Most internship
positions, if made available to a law school, will be for a period required
by the law school for the fulfillment of course credit and during the
school’s semester or term. |
