Even though parents may not want to continue their relationship, allowing the children to continue a strong relationship with both parents can be very
important to the child. It takes extra work to insure a healthy relationship is maintained for both parents with the child.
In Utah, the parent who is given physical custody of the child is called the custodial parent. The time spent with the other parent is no longer
called visitation. It is now called parent-time because it extends beyond simply visiting a child.
Children must never be used by one parent to get even with another. That type of behavior will only hurt the child.
Parents sometimes have difficulty working through the issues. There are resources available to assist.
