ESTATE PLANNING SECTION OF THE UTAH STATE BAR
MINUTES OF EXECUTIVE COMMITTEE MEETING
MARCH 15, 1999

Present:
Cindy Crass
Steve Dixon
Dave Castleton
Earl Tanner
Gary Henrie
Laurie Hart

The Committee discussed the success of the 1999 Legislative Session and that all "our" bills passed - Probate Code Amendments, the corrective legislation on too much trustee power, and the Office of Public Guardian. Lyle Hillyard will speak at the next members meeting with the Tax Section.

Steve asked if we couldn´t make a request to Sen. Hillyard to discuss some of our ideas for future Sessions as well as the success of the one just passed. Steve and Cindy will draft a letter to the Senator with this request taking due regard of the needs of the Tax Section for some of the Senator´s time.

Cindy announced that Kent Alderman would do a breakout session in Sun Valley on the Office of Public Guardian. Cindy, Laurie, and Earl will speak to the new lawyers CLE on Basic Estate Planning on April 24.

The Committee discussed candidates for next year´s Program Chair. Aric Cramer has expressed interest. Other possibilities are Brent Armstrong and Mark Morrise.

Steve announced that the Section´s Web Page is up and running again and is current. He also mentioned that the Bar has capability to do a list serve whereby members can make announcements, ask questions to all other members. It was decided to limit membership, at least initially, to members of the Estate Planning Section. Steve has put sign up directions on the meeting announcement cards; we will also do oral announcements at meetings and have the directions available at the check in table at meetings.
