CHECKLIST FOR PETITIONS FOR WRIT OF CERTIORARI

The following headlines and other requirements are derived from Rules 45 through 51 of the Utah Rules of Appellate Procedure.

______ DEADLINES FOR FILING

1. Petition: 30 days after entry of decision of Court of Appeals, or decision on petition for rehearing.

2. Cross-petition: 30 days after service of petition.

3. Respondent: 30 days after service of petition.

4. Reply to response: no deadline.

______ TEN COPIES (1 original + 9 copies)

______ LENGTH (unless permission to exceed has been granted)

1. Petitioner 20 pages

2. Opposition 20 pages

3. Amicus 20 pages

4. Reply brief 5 pages

______ PRINT AND COVER REQUIREMENTS

1. 10 characters per inch; double spacing; effective 4-1-98, proportional spaced typeface must be 13 points or larger for both text and footnotes; mono-spaced typeface may not contain more than 10 characters per inch for both text and footnotes.
