Regular Certificate of Good Standing

Requests for regular certificates must be made in writing on the proper form. There is a $10 fee for each certificate request (see link to form for details). Please include the lawyer’s Utah State Bar number to ensure the certificate is for the correct lawyer. Copies of certificates can be initially faxed, but a mailing address is needed to send the original certificate. Certificates can also be picked up at the Bar offices front reception desk; you will be notified when the certificate if ready. Certificates will be mailed within three (3) working days of receipt of the request.

The regular certificate includes the full name of the licensed lawyer, date of admission, current status (inactive, suspended for non-payment, etc.) and a statement that no public discipline has been taken against the lawyer if the statement is applicable.

Some government entities or employers require “specialized” certificates of good standing with additional information. Please include any letters or forms with your request so that we can provide the required special information.

Certificate of Good Standing for Admission to the Idaho State Bar

Requests for this type of certificate must be in writing (see above link for form) and a fully executed release (see link to release form below) must be attached to the request. There is a $10 fee for each certificate requested. Please include the lawyer’s Utah State Bar number to ensure the certificate is for the correct lawyer. These certificates cannot be faxed and will be mailed directly to the Idaho State Bar with a copy provided to the requesting party. The certificate will be mailed within 10 working days of receipt of the request. The longer period is required because the Bar’s Office of Professional Conduct also must be involved in providing the necessary information.

The certificate for admission to the Idaho State Bar includes the full name of the licensed lawyer, date of admission, date of Bar examination, length of time the lawyer was continually licensed as an active member, changes in status (inactive, suspended for non-payment, etc.), pending OPC complaints (if any), grievances, disciplinary proceedings or disciplinary action(s) against the lawyer (if any) and the nature of the discipline and the full facts underlying it, including disposition of the matter.
