NEW LAWYER TRAINGING AND LICENSED PARALEGAL PRACTITIONER PROGRAM ADMINISTRATOR
The Utah State Bar is seeking a qualified lawyer to administer the New Lawyer Training Program and to implement and administer the Licensed Paralegal Practitioner Program.
The NLTP program matches new lawyers with more experienced lawyers for training in professionalism, ethics, and civility. The experienced lawyers also assist the new lawyers in acquiring the practical skills and judgment necessary to practice in a highly competent manner. The position administers all aspects of the program including coordinating the recruitment, certification and training of volunteer mentors, administering the enrollment of new lawyers, coordinating the approval of mentoring plans to assure they comply with Supreme Court guidelines and tracking the progress of new lawyers in completing the program requirements. The position works with the Utah State Bar Committee on New Lawyer Training to develop and implement effective program policies.
The Licensed Paralegal Practitioner Program (LPP) is a new category of legal service providers that the Utah Supreme Court will begin licensing in 2018. The LPP Administrator will implement the new rules governing LPPs and develop internal Bar policies and procedures for LPP licensing, including application review and testing. The LPP Administrator will work closely with the LPP licensing committee which will determine fitness for licensing and develop testing and other licensing requirements.
Qualified applicants will have a juris doctorate degree. Qualified applicants will also be organized and have excellent record keeping skills. Applicants should have strong public speaking and writing skills and the ability to work easily with people in different departments of the Utah State Bar and work well with lawyers and other members of the legal and legal education community.
