Description

Position: The Utah State Bar is seeking applications for the staff position of Director of Professional Education. The position will develop legal education curricula for lawyers in all areas of law, ethics, professionalism and civility and collaborate with the various Bar sections and other related continuing legal educations providers to plan seminars, events and activities which will enable lawyers to improve their understanding of the law and practice; competently represent clients; and fulfill their Utah Supreme Court mandated continuing legal education requirements. The position will also teach current and effective methods of pedagogy to seminar planners and presenters, including creative presentation techniques, useful technology aids and the preparation of effective and helpful printed materials and web reference sites and sources.

Qualifications: Applicants must have experience in adult education with an undergraduate degree in a related field. Familiarity with the legal profession and experience with legal education and the judicial system is helpful. JD with relevant experience is preferred.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Creating curricula and planning and managing a broad range of effective offerings of legal education seminars, events and activities individually and in collaboration with the various Bar sections and committees and other related continuing legal educations providers in all areas of law, ethics, professionalism and civility and assuring that creative and innovative methods of teaching are incorporated into all educational offerings.

Required Abilities: Broad written and verbal communication skills; creative thinking and analytical abilities; outstanding team building and collaborative skills; strong attention to detail; effective relationship-building skills when working with Bar sections and other seminar and event planners, presenters and panelists, outside organizations, Bar leadership; ability to be self-motivated and take initiative while responding to appropriate direction from management; ability to effectively manage staff and resources against project budgets, timelines, and scope; outstanding project management skills and the ability to balance between overall goals and discreet task elements, while assuring that creative, innovative and effective methods of teaching are incorporated into all educational offerings.

Salary: $57,500 - $65,000 depending on qualifications.

Organization: The Utah State Bar is a 501 (c) 6 non-profit corporation to which the Utah Supreme Court has delegated the regulation of the practice of law as well as services for the public and benefit programs for lawyers.
