Unauthorized Practice of Law Committee |
|||
Only persons who are active, licensed members of the Bar in good standing may engage in the practice of law in Utah. The Unauthorized Practice of Law Committee is comprised of volunteer Utah attorneys and paralegals who investigate complaints against individuals and organizations based upon SCR 14-802, which governs authorization to practice law in the State of Utah. The practice of law by unauthorized persons is a serious issue affecting Utah and beyond. This is particularly true in the field of immigration law. If you believe that you have been the victim of a crime which involves the unauthorized practice of law, you should contact your local police department’s non-emergency number, in addition to submitting a complaint form to the commitee. The Committee meets monthly to evaluate complaints and report on investigations. Click here to print a print-and-mail form to file a complaint for the Committee’s review. UPL Committee welcomes new volunteers, and meets the last Monday of every month at the Utah Law & Justice Center, 645 South 200 East, Salt Lake City, UT 84111.
