Thomas A. Mecham, Kirton & McConkie
Mr. Mecham is a shareholder and director at Kirton & McConkie,
where he currently serves as the chairman of the firm's compensation
committee and is a member of the Corporate & Taxation Practice
Section. His estate planning practice covers estates from under $1
million to estates of over $100 million. In addition to drafting
basic wills and revocable trusts, he has counseled and assisted clients
in the utilization of a variety of sophisticated estate planning
techniques, including family limited liability companies and irrevocable
life insurance trusts. Mr. Mecham’s practice also includes
estate administration, the probate of estates and the filing of estate
and gift tax returns. Mr. Mecham joined Kirton & McConkie in
June 2000.
Experience
- Frequent consultant on tax issues affecting corporations, including
the area of tax-free reorganizations
- Works on both the business
and tax aspects of numerous mergers and acquisitions
- Consults and
assists clients with the restructuring of business organizations,
recapitalizations, buy-sell agreements, and business planning
- Previously
practiced for seven years with the law firm of Ray, Quinney & Nebeker,
where he was a shareholder and director
- Served as a law clerk to
the Honorable J. Thomas Greene of the United States District Court,
District of Utah
