Forrest Mosten, Mosten Mediation
Morning Plenary Unbundling Legal Services
Forrest S. Mosten is recognized as the "Father of Unbundling" for
his pioneering work in Discrete Task Services for lawyers to provide
affordable and understandable legal services to the underserved members
of our society. Some of Mr. Mosten's pioneering innovations include
the Client Library, legal and conflict wellness periodic check-up,
confidential mini-evaluation, mediated case-management, and a variety
of new client-oriented services.
In addition to training mediators, lawyers, therapists and organizations
world-wide and serving on the faculty at the UCLA School of Law ,
Mr. Mosten has published numerous articles on mediation and unbundling
and is the author of The Complete Guide to Mediation (ABA 1997),
and Mediation Career Guide (Wiley, 2001). Mr. Mosten's book Unbundling
Legal Services: A Guide to Delivering Legal Services A La Carte was
published in 2000 by the ABA and he served as a Keynote Speaker at
the first national conference on unbundling in October 2000.
Mr. Mosten was recognized for his work in unbundling by the ABA
with the Lifetime Award for Legal Access by the Standing Committee
on Delivery of Legal Services and was named 2004 Lawyer as Problem
Solver by the ABA Section on Dispute Resolution.
Mr. Mosten graduated Phi Beta Kappa from UC Riverside and earned
his Juris Doctor at UCLA School of Law in 1972.
