Evelyn J. Furse, Salt Lake City Corporation
Evelyn J. Furse is a Senior City Attorney with Salt Lake City Corporation doing the City’s civil litigation. She currently chairs the Initiative on Advancement and Retention of Women Attorneys. Ms. Furse served as President of Women Lawyers of Utah for 2007 - 2008 and has been on the board since 2004. Before joining the City Attorney’s Office in September 2006, Ms. Furse was a partner with Howrey, LLP, formerly known as Bendinger, Crockett, Peterson, Greenwood & Casey. At Howrey, Ms. Furse practiced complex corporate litigation. Ms. Furse received a B.A. from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, cum laude, with Honors, and Phi Beta Kappa. She earned her J.D. at New York University School of Law where she also graduated cum laude. Following her graduation from NYU, Ms. Furse came to Utah to clerk for the Honorable Chief Justice Christine M. Durham on the Utah Supreme Court and went on to work in Washington, D.C. at Covington & Burling until she could no longer keep herself away from Utah.
