help from the Disability Law Center, call 1-800-662-9080 (voice)
or 1-800-550-4182 (TTY) to speak confidentially with one of their

Pocket Guides on Students' Rights
UNM students are preparing Spanish-English materials for health
providers and students to be distributed through school-based
medical clniics. Over time, we hope to create materials that will
explain students' legal rights and responsibilities in a number
of areas: immigration, health care access and confidentiality,
truancy, substance abuse, domestic violence, etc. If you know
of such materials or can provide reference for such materials,
please contact: umbalaw@comcast.net
Scout Troop Looking for Mentors - Our goal
with these boys is to introduce them to role models that are
Hispanic Professionals to give them hope in the future. We are
trying to find Lawyers, Doctors and other Professionals that
are Hispanic to help us with these career goals in the next year.
We are planning several activities where we would like to have
the boys meet Professionals in different industries. Some of
those Professionals hopefully will allow us to visit their work
places. More...

Utah
Legal Services - Statewide Legal Needs Assessment
(July 2005) In the next 4 months Utah Legal Services will be conducting
a legal needs assessment for low income residents of Utah. Included
in the needs assessment is surveying more than 1600 migrant farm
workers, minorities, youth at risk, immigrants, domestic violence
survivors and several other target groups. The questions will
include information on needs in a variety of areas such as housing,
immigration law help, employment problems and several others.
ULS seeks help to find subjects to survey and to help us conduct
surveys. This commitment will entail a 1 hour training session
and up to 5 surveys per person. Each survey takes approximately
30 minutes to 1 hour to complete. I you cannot commit to conducting
surveys, you can find subjects for us and set up appointments
for us to come out to their home and survey them there. There
will be a small inducement given to subjects. A more detailed
explanation of this project is being sent with this e mail.
Please e mail the contact below for info and to register for the
next training.
