During its regularly scheduled meeting October 27, 2000, which was held at Brigham Young University Law School, the Board of Bar Commissioners received the following reports
and took the actions indicated.
1. A report was given on the Executive Committee action on Admissions Certification withdrawal.
2. The Diversity Training Schedule was approved, Professor Theresa Martinez of the University of Utah will be doing the training sessions, along with an article for the Bar
Journal. Professor Martinez has been invited to both the Mid-Year and Annual Bar Conventions.
3. President David Nuffer reviewed the "Program Sunset Review” and stated that the Commissions’ Policies and Procedures state that "each non-regulatory program or
service provided by the Bar and supported by staff shall be subject to a regular review to determine its continued liability, including cost analysis and justification for
continuation, with notice to Bar members.” Nuffer would like to have the program evaluations completed by the Mid-Year meeting in March.
4. The 2001 National Conference of Bar Presidents Mid-Year meeting will be held in San Diego February 15-17, 2001.
5. The MDP Task Force will issue its final report on November 1, when they have scheduled a meeting with the Utah Supreme Court and there also will be a Bar Journal article
summarizing the reportÕs highlights.
6.J ohn Baldwin reviewed the audit and first quarter financials.
7. Debra Moore and Randy Kester prepared reports on chapterÕs from the book Leading Change.
8. The Commission approved a petition to the Supreme Court to increase Pro Hac Vice fees.
9. The Commission had lunch with the J. Reuben Clark Law Faculty.
