An application for admission as House Counsel can be filed at any time, but it must be done within 6 months of securing employment as House Counsel.  Keep in mind that processing the application takes 4-6 months.  Once the application is filed, the applicant may practice as House Counsel while the application is pending.

Rules Governing Admission

You should become familiar with the Rules Governing Admission.  Those listed below are especially relevant to Applicants applying for admission as House Counsel:

Rule 14-701                Provides the definitions of important terms used throughout the Rules.
Rule 14-702(f)            States that the Bar does not have the power to waive the Rules.
Rule 14-707                Information on the FBI Background Check and withdrawals.
Rule 14-708                Information on the Character and Fitness standards and process.
Rule 14-713                MPRE requirements.
Rule 14-719                Lists the qualifications that must be met by all House Counsel Applicants.
